Jaclyn + Erik

We both attended Colby College (Erik ’10, Jaclyn ’12), but we didn’t spend time together there beyond briefly crossing paths as COOT (freshman orientation trip) leaders in 2009. We reconnected in the summer of 2013, when Erik used our shared last name as a conversation starter and asked Jaclyn to a Red Sox game. Though the Sox lost to the Yankees and we sweltered in the 97-degree heat, we spent more than 12 hours together that day, and we knew that we had something special from the start.

Erik left for business school at Dartmouth in the fall of 2014, while Jaclyn remained in Boston. The prospect of two years apart was daunting, but we absolutely grew stronger and more certain in our relationship through the distance. In March of 2017, nine months after returning to Boston and moving in with Jaclyn, Erik proposed on Windansea Beach in La Jolla, California. We celebrated with days of tacos and margaritas before heading to Sedona, Arizona to continue the fun.

We knew from the beginning that we would get married in Maine – a place that has long been special to each of us, even beyond our Colby connections. Jaclyn grew up a few minutes across the New Hampshire border and vacationed in Kennebunkport as a child, while Erik went to summer camp in Fryeburg. In addition to regular trips to Portland and Kittery since the early days of our relationship, we have visited Kennebunkport at least once a summer, often in celebration of the anniversary of our first date!
