Kari & Justin

Kari and Justin first met in homeroom on the first day of 7th grade. Justin and his family had just moved to Tucson, AZ from Baltimore, MD. They “dated” for the first time in the 8th grade. It was a time when Kari’s junior high school identity translated into wearing spiked jewelry and belts and Justin used a large amount of hair gel. Many trips to the mall and movies were attended with two of their best friends, both of whom happen to be in the wedding party. However, the young romance didn’t last very long and ended several months later.

Due to the small class size and their tight-knit group of friends in high school, Kari and Justin continued to be friends throughout this prominent and informative life period. Their friendship led to another relationship in the second semester of senior year. Kari graduated and attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore while Justin attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. After four years of a long distance relationship (with many trips to Baltimore and Boulder), Kari graduated with a new love for K-Pop while Justin graduated with a new love for buildings and construction. Coincidentally, Justin obtained a job in Baltimore after graduating and made the move back to the east coast. In the years since graduating from college, Kari and Justin have enjoyed exploring Baltimore, eating crabs, drinking Natty Boh, and raising their two wonderful dogs.

Kari is a part of the 5th generation in her family who have summered in the village of Sorrento, Maine. Her family first started visiting Sorrento in the 19th century. She grew up surrounded by more first, second, and third cousins than she could keep track of. They all would spend their summers running around the peninsula, going to tennis classes, sailing school (spending equal parts in the water as on the boat), and library nights where there were dances and parties. Justin first visited Sorrento in the summer of 2010 when he was exposed to sailing, popovers, hiking, cocktail parties, and a gaggle of Kari’s relatives whose names he could only hope to remember. He is still trying to figure out how everyone is related. Luckily, Justin came to love what Sorrento had to offer. Kari and Justin have since journeyed up to Sorrento every summer since. In November 2015, Justin proposed to Kari on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in blustery conditions. A surprised and a rather cold Kari accepted further cementing their ties to the area. Sorrento is a very special place to both of them and the perfect location to celebrate their nuptials.
